Overview

The Dept of Prosthodontics and implantology started under graduate programme in the year- 2002-03. The department maintains an impressionable amalgamation of scientific and research activities. The students here are educated and trained to practice efficient dentistry by developing a good rapport with patients and giving good diagnosis and treatment using state of art materials and techniques. The department has started post graduate degree programme in May 2008 with an intake of three students which has been enhanced to 6 students from May 2012.

For patients with clinical conditions related to missing or underdeveloped teeth, the Department of Prosthodontics and Crowns and Bridges provides diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of oral function. It focuses on reconstructive, cosmetic and implant dentistry. The department values cutting-edge teaching and research strategies in addition to patient treatment.

The department is well equipped with latest equipment like T-SCAN, ADORO (lummat) curing chamber with ivoclair composites for indirect composite restorations. Latest milling machine (Ammun Girbach, Germany) which makes work simpler easy and precise. Students are guided to take up paper presentations and posters, where in all postgraduate students from across the state have participated.

Prosthodontics provides lot of research avenues in the process of restoring lost teeth with implants and also to fabricate prosthesis for maxillofacial deformity patients. The staff of the department is keen to utilize this opportunity for research programmes. The staff of the department have participated in various scientific forum and delivered guest lectures, orations, and presented scientific papers, seminars nationally.

Department practices standard operating procedures at subsidized cost without any compromise in the quality. Total rehabilitation of patients is the Moto of the department.
