Vishnu Dental College (VDC), located in Green Meadows campus, Vishnupur, Kovvada, Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh is affiliated to Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada and is recognized by the Dental Council of India, New Delhi. The institution was initiated by Padma Bhushan Awardee Dr B. V. Raju in the year 2002 as a constituent college of Shri Vishnu Educational Society. The Green Meadows campus is an integrated campus with 7 Educational institutions spread across 100 acres in the Rural belt of West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh.
Sri Vishnu Educational Society is headed by Chairman Sri. K. V. Vishnu Raju. The other members of the society include Vice-Chairman Sri. Ravichandran Rajagopal, Secretary, Sri. K. Aditya Vissam and Joint Secretary Sri. K. Sai Sumanth.
The college offers Undergraduate (BDS), Postgraduate (MDS), Doctoral (PhD) and Diploma in Dental Mechanics courses. The college and hospital are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, Comprehensive Clinics for Undergraduate training and 8 Speciality Clinics for Postgraduate training. The college is furnished with advanced equipment and follows stringent infection control protocols for training both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The total academic built-up area is 1,85,000 sq. Ft. VDC practices innovative teaching-learning methods such as Small Group Teaching (SGT) and Clinical Shadowing integrated with Apple I-pad ecosystem-supported e-learning services.
The student from the beginning of 1st year gets interdisciplinary exposure by means of understanding the link between basic knowledge and clinical applications. The college encourages and provides a platform for both students and faculty to undertake research activities and subsequent publications.
The institute provides quality education and skill levels equivalent to international standards by collaborating with reputed International Universities. Vishnu Dental College has a dedicated Community Outreach department that engages the students in various grassroots initiatives to provide oral health awareness to the rural population. VDC passionately stepped beyond the DCI mandates in spirit, by establishing a dedicated section for community outreach. Various flagship programs and 35 Rural Satellite Clinics offer a wide range of positive learning experiences for students while providing required dental services to the under-served.
Vishnu Dental College ensures every strategic intervention and operational roadmap is strictly aligned with its Vision and Mission. Vision – ‘Oral Healthcare for All’ Mission – VDC has well-defined mission guidelines that rationally steer all the program interventions and strategic collaborations towards achieving the Vision as follows, 1) Providing access to Oral Health Care 2) Imparting patient-centred care and value-based training 3) Conducting need-based research. The new innovative practice being carried out at our Institute is using LM-Dental Instrument Tracking System via RFID technology. This practice provides a holistic approach for effective infection control documentation, asset management and cost-efficiency. Setting up CSSD (Central Sterile Supply Department) is another milestone in the evolution and transformation process of VDC.
State of the Art laboratory and patient care equipment are recently facilitated to train the students and rendering treatments to patients equal to International advanced standards. The treatment equipment includes Dynamic Navigation System for Implantology, Endodontics, Periodontics and Maxillofacial Surgeries. Intra Oral Scanners are made available to record patients’ oral structures. The lab equipment includes Model Scanners & 5-Axis Milling Machines.
To support the in-house Research and Consultancy Dental Materials Mechanical Characterization Equipment is provided in the department of Dental Materials.
